Spring Fling Kidlit Contest 2023 Entry

I'm excited to participate in Ciara O'Neal and Kaitlyn Sanchez's Spring Fling Kidlit Contest again this year. Without further ado, here is my entry!

SPRING, THE MUSICAL

The sun rose,

lighting up the stage.

The air warmed in expectation.

The cast arrived, one by one—

creeping and crawling

from caves and crooks,

nests and nooks.

The chicks, fledglings, and ducklings rehearsed their lines.

Cheep cheep,

tweet tweet,

quack quack.

The wildflowers took their places,

donning costumes of violet, magenta, and gold.

Bees and butterflies warmed up their wings.

The props were lifted high.

Blooming magnolias, dogwoods, and cherry blossoms framed the set.

The audience took their places,

removing coats, and scarves, and mittens.

It was finally time.

The curtains parted.
